St David's Dartfords

In the St Davids area ,on Thursday 3rd, we searched the two known sites where Dartford Warblers have bred in recent years.

During a morning visit to the most easterly site we had 4 contacts in 150 mins.(despite perfect weather conditions they were very reluctant to put their heads above the gorse!). We can only confirm the presence of two birds. One a male that gave a display flight and on two occasions carried nesting material ( feathers) to a clump of gorse. The second bird, sex unknown and seen twice, was distant enough to the other bird to indicate a strong possibility of a second territory.

No sightings were made during a half hour visit to the western site.
