My next door neighbour who is a keen naturalist though not a birder as such spends much time at cilgeran (sp?) and yesterday saw a large brown heron sized bird make a sharp turn and drop into the reed bed (he did not specify where exactly) and was sure he had seen a Bittern. So I pass the sighting on.
