Info Post
St. David's Airfield 30 November;-
Robin was having a good look around a pond/marsh area at the north of the airfield when he saw the pointed bill & yellow legs of a black slime covered bittern type bird. After taking pieces home & cleaning the bird became even more interesting!
I went over to see the bird (after finishing a TTV with Janet!). A look at the wing, shows it to be an American Bittern. Wing, bill, leg & foot measurements were taken & various photo's, all supporting the case for American Bittern. The pieces are stored to add to the descriptive record.
This will be the 4th record for Pembs,(BBRC acceptance required).
1872,1905 both shot. & 1946 Ramsey Is. being the previous records.
Well found Robin!
