Info Post

Arrived home early afternoon from a quick trip to Bosherston to find this Brambling amongst the 10 or so Chaffinches in my back garden. We also have 2 regular Great Spotted Woodpeckers and half a dozen Goldfinches on the Niger seed. Generally not that many birds so quality rather than quantity.
At Bosherston much of the water was frozen (more so than a couple of days ago) but it was melting rapidly with some amazing noises like a fast jet going over as the ice cracked. Two Otters seen from the 8 Arch bridge one of which climbed up onto the ice briefly. I didn't count the wildfowl which were crowded on an area of free water near the reed bed but numbers seemed down a little from earlier in the week. On the way home a Red Kite just south of the Ridgeway was a nice sighting.
