Whilst trying to ring roosting skylarks at Freshwater West, this long-eared owl was a surprise catch considering it was right out in the open. It appeared to be still in good condition after the cold snap and after ringing flew off gracefully across the sand dunes.
Very few skylarks were found, but a considerable passage of redwings was taking place overhead and a single fieldfare was heard too. (Rich D and Paddy J)
