At Amroth, on the falling tide this morning, Common Scoter 1000+, Red-throated Diver 106+, Red-breasted Merganser 6, Great Crested Grebe 2+. The Red-throated Diver count is almost certainly a gross underestimate, as 106 birds flew past me in a westerly direction in the space of two minutes. Unfortunately, virtually all of the birds were distant (partly due to the equally numerous fishermen along the shoreline), but all of the divers that I positively identified were red-throats.
At St David's Airfield this afternoon, the two Short-eared Owls were performing well, and a male Merlin flashed through.
