Clive's Pipit
Info Post
Well done to Clive on a really interesting and potentially exciting find. After some discussion and careful examination of the photographs, 2 more of which are posted here, this is either a Blyth's or Richard's Pipit. Some photos appear to show features strongly suggestive of Blyth's (relatively short-legged & tailed, short hindclaw, less distinct supercilium, shorter less robust bill in some pics), whilst others perhaps suggest Richard's (lateral throat stripe for one). Personally the jizz does not hit me as Richard's, although I have no experience of 'late' (early winter) Richard's which apparently may be of the race dauricus which is more like Blyth's in some features (?). It's well worth the effort in finding out one way or the other...
