We had a great morning up in the hills with J.& M. It took a while to find the G.G. Shrike at Ty Rhyg, but eventually John picked it up on top of a small pine tree, and it appeared to be in hunting mode. We actually saw it carrying off a very small mouse or vole which it must have stored away, because it soon returned. We also had 3 Goldcrests, 2 Reed Buntings several Bullfinches and a party of 19+ Coal Tits. A Cross Bill was heard but not sighted. They might become tricky to find as there seems to be a poor cone crop this
year.
