a slow start

I'm afraid it was a bit of a slow start to the day for me, and I didn't get any further than the garden. This is the first time that I've put out nyger seed and it's already got good results with at least 12 Siskins squabbling for a seat. A Fieldfare very quickly found some apples and the sight of 13 Long-tailed Tits on a feeder full of peanuts was perhaps an indication as to why the four ringed birds retrapped late afternoon were a good gram or so heavier than in early december. We hardly ever see them on the feeders though they have gone for fat some years.
