Info Post

A day of mixed fortunes started with the sound of a Cuckoo calling as I lay in bed - the first I have heard in St Florence for many years.
At Kilpaison c.8:50a.m a distinct lack of waders with just 1 Whimbrel on the beach. No waders at all at Freshwater West. The passage seems to have fizzled out altogether - perhaps there will be a late burst?
St Govan's was more interesting late morning with 8 or more Wheatears, Stonechats feeding young and several Whitethroats singing their scratchy song - still, it would seem, establishing territories. There does seem to be a fantastic number of Whitethroats about this year. A Kestrel hovered obligingly overhead and 4 Chough also seen as well as plenty of hirundines and a few Swifts over the cliff tops.
