Info Post
Since the Autumn of 08 I've been seeing Gulls, mostly Herring, but 1 Lesser BB, at Newport which have been ringed at Gloucester landfill sites. They have blue rings with red lettering. To date about 10 individuals, with some having enough repeat sightings to count as "our" birds.

But 2 odd things.

Apart from 1 bird seen by me in Fishguard, all the multiple reports have just been at a Gloucester site, or at Newport. No reports from Cardiff or Swansea or anywhere else in Pembs or anywhere at all.

The most recent report on this ringing scheme acknowledges reporters in 2010. The only other Pembs birder I recognised was Wendy.

OK, you do need to scope the gulls to be sure of noticing they have a colour ring, but I thought the real gull experts were doing just that to find the next Glaucous Winged Gull or whatever.

So why are you not seeing these birds?.
