Info Post
A 2nd winter Med Gull at Newport yesterday had been ringed as a pullus in Holland in June 2011. In late Oct/early Nov it was near Lugo in NW Spain. In July 12 it was in Musselburgh, near Edinburgh, & then down to Newport.
There were also 3 other Med Gulls in the rather large preening flock of gulls.
Anyone any good at exotics?. Also at Newport a bird the size of a blackbird, but stockier. Plumage seemed, on brief view, to be all creamy white except for pale brown wing coverts. It had a large, bright red, isoceles triangle bill.
The bill made me think of waxbills, but I think they are smaller, & I couldnt find any pictures with this plumage pattern on the internet.
