Great Grey Shrike in usual area by the gate at 12.30pm. Numbers of crossbill calling with groups of 22, 17 and 7 flying eastwards. Kestrel hunting - first I've seen here in a good while. Flushed a woodcock in the forestry at the farside. The shrike was being rather elusive on return but eventually relocated on southside of track by gate at 2.20pm.
