Info Post
Spent much of the glorious 12th wading up to my knees in water with County Botanical Recorder Stephen Evans, looking for a scarce plant (marsh stitchwort). It is August, so had hoped to do this in relatively dry conditions but the unseasonal heavy rains had brought the Cleddau up to peak winter flood levels! However, at least it was lovely weather for ducks - noted at least 100 mallard and around 20 teal dabbling in the flooded rushy flood-plain area. Surprisingly no obvious waders about. A couple of very recently fledged whitethroats looked pretty bedraggled, just a few obvious sedge warblers were around - if there are still any late nesting species in the low vegetation then they would not have stood a chance.
