Info Post
Picking up on Marks comment.

I have been watching my feeders pretty closely in the last week or so and have had up to 30 Chaffinches, the odd Brambling, around 15 House Sparrows all regular. Amazingly only ONE greenfinch in the last week or so - an observation through the winter. I guess the disease problems last year have clobbered them UNLESS all those birds which normally come to Pembs in the winter from NE Britain have simply gone on to Ireland this year.
In the last couple of weeks the numbers of Blue and Great Tits coming to the feeders has also dropped dramatically. Normally they disperse from winter feeding stations back to woodland breeding territories in february anyway but you would sort of expect them to hang around during this extreme weather - perhaps not though.
Summer ringing and BBS etc will be interesting to see how the mix of species has coped with the winter.
General Obs - loads of redwings around again, Ravens displaying even in the snow showers, buzzards soaring in display flights and Carrion Crows noisily claiming territories. Spring has sprung - or at least it should have!!!!!!!!!!!!
