Hi there could you help us please with a bit of a mystery!!
Whilst walking across a meadow going towards Bosherston Lakes from the car park, close to Barafundle Bay last weekend my husband and I came across a pair of quite different birds . They were around the same height as a little egret, were totally black and with a sheen, beaks long and curved similar to a curlew. In flight they had a tan colour , a slight tan sheen under their wings and had a flight similiar to a crane with legs out behind. They were obviously wading birds and were feeding in the wet area of the meadow. They were totally non plussed by humans and did not move until 3 bouncy dogs behind us ran straight at them. The crows then came and circled them and chased them until they landed again in the wet area. We thought they were Whimbrels but wrong colour and look!!
Can you help us solve our mystery we would love to know what they were!!
Many thanks Judy L
