Info Post
At this time of year many Manx Shearwaters are found inland, blown in by gale force winds. These birds need some help to get them back to their natural habitat - the sea, as in the photo. If you find a Manx Shearwater inland get it into a ventilated cardboard box and wait until evening or at night to release it on the coast. Manxies come to shore only at night as they are easy prey for large gulls so releasing them at night onto the sea will give them their best chance. If you feel unable to handle the bird or need further help please ring Richard Dobbins on 07875 751461. Richard will put you in touch with the closest person able to help.
