Owls

I got to Plumstone Mountain too late this evening for the starlings and, as it turned out, any harriers, but I was treated to 2 fly-pasts from a Merlin and, in the gathering gloom 1, probably 2, "eared" owls - my initial thought was obviously Short-eared (rarely sighted here though?) but I could not rule out Long-eared, even though I saw one bird four times the light was just not good enough to be sure of the features....worth another look tomorrow I think.
