From the Stena ferry yesterday afternoon (annoyingly the rear deck was cordoned off)we could see a feeding frenzy off Strumble head, many gannets diving & "fins" amongst them;I would say dolphin & porpoise. However we were way out & in the wrong place.
About an hour out we were joined by a pied flycatcher, which hitched a lift in the wrong direction for best part of an hour!
When the fast cat passed us there were some rissos dolphins between us & them, again at quite a distance.
Hi Mark - I was on the Ferry yesterday too! Up front on the Bridge with the Sea Trust Dolphinothon - see the Whales in Wales Blog. We had 15 encounters with Cetaceans altogether - Porpoises off Strumble, plenty of Risso's, including the ones you saw and some excellent Common Dolphin sightings. Also 2 Bonxies and 2 Arctic Skuas. On the return leg this morning much quieter. Richard Crossen
