Just back from some upland fields nr Cilgwyn -- now thawed.
c18 Woodcock in 3 fields, including a group 4 & 2 more birds close by.
The oldest known European Woodcock, a Scottish bird ringed in 1921 & shot in 1937!
If Paddy keeps his Woodcock interest going ...he may better this, he ringed his 100th Woodcock of the year earlier this week (& has caught many more which others have ringed.)
