Went out of the house this morning on my way to Dale to look at Black Redstarts, when something caught my eye flicking around our roof - yes, you've guessed it ..... Actually there may have been two - one darker and one lighter bird. A new bird for the garden list.
They were eventually chased off by a Robin, who up till that point had been occupied with an inter-Robin territorial dispute at the top of the garden. As soon as that was settled it turned his/her attention to the poor Redstarts.
Very pleasant in the garden this morning - fresh Painted Ladies and Red Admirals on the profusely flowering hebes, a Water Rail calling in the stream and a delicious Grey Wagtail on the pumphouse roof.
