While many (most?) of us sensibly spent Saturday relishing the comfort and refreshments of Chevron, and the excellent range of talks and presentations (many thanks to all concerned for organising and hosting it), my brother optimistically thought a birding walk from Goultrop to Martin’s Haven was called for. Before he nearly drowned, highlights were:
Goultrop: 20+ Common Scoter, o/w 9 males, and 1 Great Northern Diver. The Scoter were flying in small groups from further out in St Bride’s Bay a couple of hours after High Tide. 3 Bullfinch (2m, 1f).
On the Coast Path back: another 1-2 Great Northerns and 4 Redwings. 1 surprisingly confiding Whimbrel at St Bride's Haven.
Friday on the Gann: 25+ Snipe roosting on the Crabhall Farm side, an immature Peregrine being mobbed by crows, 1 Little Egret, female Goldeneye, 3 Dabchick, 30+ Teal, 1 Buzzard
Saturday: Goultrop to St Brides
