Info Post

A round-up of a good day today and highlights of the last few days.

Little Ringed Plover on North Pond – only the seventh island record, beating the previous earliest (8th April last year).

First two Sand Martin and first Canada Goose egg.

Chough – a flock of 15 feeding around Crab Bay.

Greater numbers and activity for passerines; 15 Chiffchaff & 2 Willow Warblers, 9 Wheater. Blackbirds collecting nesting material and Dunnocks chasing each other around.

Puffins – first full count of the year yesterday evening returned 3141 individuals, including some mating on the sea. Razorbills and Guillemots on the cliffs in small numbers but forming rafts (1680 and 1085 the respective highest counts so far) near them.

Finally a Hummingbird Hawkmoth, presumably woken from hibernation, was crashing into the light in my office last night.
