Went searching for the Whitefronts, armed with my scope, I pulled up at the gate where they were last evening - nothing! I drove down to Martinshaven car park, got out the car, looked around & there were 16 geese flying in from the direction of what could`ve been the Scillies! I jumped back in & drove back to the gateway & watched them land.
P5D was there I managed a few pics, but digiscoping on max zoom was always going to be down to my usual low standard. Nice looking birds they are too.
Off to the Gann to locate Brent goose KLWR, which I soon found but what soon caught my eye was a large Otter. Wow! feeding on a small Island behind Crab Hall, it swam out, dived, & returned with a fish which it then ate. I watched this process 5 times before the cold & fading light made me leave. I`ve seen only a couple of Otters before, but this one (which appeared to be a dog - the same one as Graham saw?) was oblivious to my prescence.
On the sea there were 5-6oo gulls - mostly BH`s, a few Commons & 5 ad Meds.
