Bird numbers were considerably down at Castlemartin Corse this morning compared to last month for the Webs - 325 Lapwing, 2 Golden Plover (where are all the GP's this winter?), 20 Curlew, 35 Teal, 27 Shoveller, 68 Wigeon, 4 Pintail, 23 Mallard, 11 Coot, 2 Little Grebe, 200+ Skylark, 50+ Linnet. No raptors seen at all which is very unusual for the Corse.
At Angle Harbour at high tide there was a nice little collection of waders roosting on the shingle spit - 40 Barwits, 2 Knot, 120 Dunlin, 12 Ringed Plover. Also c.20 Redshank around the harbour and a Kingfisher.
At Kilpaison late morning - c.250 Dunlin, 5 Redshank, 10 Ringed Plover, 40 Curlew, 33 Knot, 25 Oystercatcher, 10 Brents. 9 Great Crested Grebe. Didn't count the Wigeon but numbers well down c.100+. Click photos for larger versions.
