Info Post
The following message was forwarded from Rod Penrose (Marine Strandings); if anyone on a tour of our beaches for good birds happens to find the satellite tag, there is a reward for the person who finds it!

Dear Dr Penrose,
Jackie Hall here, I run Manx Basking Shark Watch, a subsidiary of the Manx Wildlife Trust. Professor Hayes suggested that you might have people 'on the beach' in Wales. One of our basking sharks, 'Colin' has shed his very expensive satellite tag. We would dearly like to get it back as it means that we can get a much better data set from it AND we can recondition it and use it again next year. they are £2000 a piece new so you can see that this would be good news!

Here is the google map of the last known position of 'Colin' the basking shark's tag. It was not accurate, presumably because it was a very windy tag and the tag must have been blowing around a lot, making it difficult for the tag to transmit to the satellite.

If by any chance any of you people are in this area could they please keep an eye open for it. I will attach a picture of it. It is on a page of A4 to give it some scale. Also a link to the webpage story about it.

I cannot tell you how grateful we would be if you get it back.

Very best regards

Jackie Hall
