I awoke just before daylight, it was not possible to pick out features clearly but the sky was pale and bright. A flurry of small passerines fluttered past my bedroom window, over the house, and then another , and another...
I got up to walk the dogs and confirmed my initial presumption that they were Chaffinches.
As I write they continue to fly through in loose groups of between ten and a hundred. I guestimate somwhere between 3000 to 5000 hyave passed by in the hour since I first saw them. If this is happening all through Pembrokeshire now, it really is an stunning wildlife event. I tried to catch them with a photo' this poor effort is just meant as a record.
