My WeBS count at Hook this morning revealed a drastic drop in bird numbers from my February count - 5,095 now down to 625! Also plenty of drumming Great Spots to remind us spring has sprung. No Lapwing, Golden Plover or Pintail, and very few Dunlin, but Teal still in decent numbers (390). Highlights included 4 Greylag Goose (in 2 obvious pairs), 72 Shelduck, 3 Grey Plover and 26 Knot. A female Brambling was with a Chaffinch flock along the W Cleddau.
This evening the 3 Glossy Ibis flew into Marloes Mere at exactly 5.30pm, and settled after circling a few times - fantastic to see. They then proceeded to bathe and feed. Onto Dale where the Brents were down to 27 (roosting in the bay with the gulls), just 2 Med Gulls amongst a sizeable flock of mainly Black-headed Gulls (adult & 2cy), and I managed one additional Goldeneye to Brian's 9 earlier (10, 3 males). On the way home no less than 7 separate bats along the B4327.
