There was a cuckoo singing around Marloes yesterday for most of the day - this is quite unusual - if we see them at all it is usually just one "cuckoo" as they whizz through.
This morning there has been a mass arrival of Sedge Warblers around Orlandon Kilns, frantic "zzzing" from even the most unlikely bush, with 3 singing birds at Mullock Bridge including one song-flighting. You'd think they might need a rest after the journey .....
When I got home from my stroll I was mightily relieved to see that our resident Swallows were sitting on the wires as if they'd never been away - this is at least 10 days later than they usually appear. But no Whitethroats here yet.
Update from this afternoon - Whitethroats now here!
