Just updated some of the counts and data:-
342 Kittiwakes on nests - almost all sitting now. 4th highest count ever and the best since 1986 - fantastic recovery in the face of reductions almost everywhere else.
202 Cormorants this year c/w 179 in 2007. Approx roductivity data from 83 nests exactly 2 chicks per pair. Lots of very big chicks around but still quite a few on eggs and tiny chicks.
Guilli numbers around 700 I think but I still need to do the detailed checking - so Richard was wrong on that one!!!!
Razorbill numbers seem lowish but I could be wrong on that when I add it all up.
Has anyone got any Great tits in their boxes?? We have checked over 100 in the last week and have seen about five with Great Tits c/w probably a thrid of them last year. Blue tit brood sizes seem low - on caldey of 8 broods max was 6 and on the mainland very few over 8.
Nice views of the Woodchat tonight too. Looks like a first year female with primaries quite faded and worn and pale edging but I wouldn't mind seeing a good photo to confirm this 'cos its not all that easy on females.
