On Sunday diurnal migrants flying approximately west over Martletwy during late morning included numerous redwings, prob well in excess of 100 skylarks (in small groups), numerous meadow pipits, chaffinches, siskins and 20+ bramblings. Its surprising what you can hear and see from a garden location during an hour or so.
Today at Stackpole similar species noted in the morning flying over, plus a flock of around 300 redwings heading more or less south near Martletwy. A passing sparrowhawk caused a flock of white wagtails (estimated to be between 30 and 50 individuals) to make a quick descent to the roof-tops at the Stackpole Centre. Here they waited for several minutes before continuing their journey.
