Info Post
Whilst watching seals, overlooking the bay just to the south of the lighthouse at Strumble a raptor shot over our heads and landed on the cliff below us on Ynys Meicel (the lighthouse island) An immature Goshawk glared around looking for something to kill (probably a young male) It flew low and fast across the island hoping to flush something and then landed on a boulder, a couple of swallows dared to mob it but the usually pugnacius gulls were rather more reticent than normal. It flew again disappearing behind the lighthouse, hope the Choughs were safely out of the way!I couldnt remember seeing a Gos at the head before (though had a couple at Tresinwen) so thought I might have copped a Strumble first. As usual GHR was one step ahead, only a second record, still, (I console myself) a rarer record there than than Wilsons Petrel! Eight Sandwich Terns also seen fishing in Fishguard Harbour before flying out to sea.
