On May 3rd last year we found 40 Collard Doves near the top of Portlisky Valley: newly arrived on a strong southerly wind.
Today, flying high in a north-easterly direction, above Trefeiddan, were 5 C.D's, with others yesterday. Sightings of this species, here along the coast west of St Davids, are not infrequent at this time of the year. They rarely stay.
Collard Doves are not often spoken about in a migratory context. Any thoughts out there, perhaps from the Islands?
