Having been in communication with Richard Millington regarding the recent Teifi Marshes Little Bittern, he gave his view that the bird was a first summer male rather than an adult as I reported. He's right of course, a single adult tertial clearly stands out as being of a different generation to the rest of the retained juvenile wing. The head, neck and body have attained adult-like plumage during the partial post-juvenile moult. Mea culpa.
