A recent record of 4 boxes were occupied by Pied Flycatchers in Pengelli this season, with very encouraging results. Karen returned today to check that broods had fledged successfully. They had !!
Broods of 8,7 and 4 were successful. The 4th pair never was expected to get past 1/2 very young as the female appeared alone, the male suspected of favouring a second female in a box nearby !!
At least 4 out of the 7 adults involved are ringed, presumably Pengelli offspring of the previous 2 years?
Many thanks to Mike Snow for managing the 60 boxes and data for the BTO Nest record Scheme.
The pair of Redstarts nesting in a natural tree cavity near the entrance fledged young successfully too.
Have a look at our Teifi Marsh Ringing to see our early thoughts on warbler breeding from the Teifi.
