Whilst waiting for some interesting waders to turn up at the Gann I have been enjoying what seems to be an exceptional butterfly year. The garden has been a-flap with huge pristine Red Admirals and on Saturday a stroll around the garden produced 69 butterflies of 13 species including 3 Comma, (I have only seen two during the last 6 years) a magnificent number (11) of Wall Brown (there are usually one or two but I have never seen this many) plus 3 Common Blues and a Small Copper. And the first Migrant Hawker appeared, sunbathing on the everlasting sweet peas, on exactly the same date as last year.
