Info Post
Some notes from John H. on breeding success;
Some 7 pairs made nesting attempts initially, 5 pairs have either been successful or laid replacement clutches. With 2 prs. moving out of the bunds and laying relacement clutches on a nearby field once cleared of it's crop.
5 of the 14 adults were carrying BTO rings, presumably birds reared at Kilpaisson in recent years, & 1 bird was a colour-ringed bird from last year.
4 of this years young have been colour-ringed so far.
Predation of the nests is high, particularly the intital nests/young, presumed by Foxes or corvids. Probably the best year for this population & it will be interesting to compare breeding success/productivity with Ramsey Island's population.
