Info Post
With most young Kites either fledged or about to fledge its a good time to summarise the season so far. This year Kites have continued to expand their range and increase in number within Pembrokeshire with at least 18 territorial pairs during April/ May compared to 12 last year. Of these at least 14 definitly attempted to breed and of the 11 nests located, 8 were successful. A total of 14 chicks were known to reach fledging age and most are still sat around in the nest trees looking very bedraggled in the wet weather. One chick of fledging age has been found dead and has been taken for post mortem examination.
Thanks for all the kite sightings that everyone has sent me and I'm still always interested to hear of more.
