Info Post
Morris N and I did the Webs count at Castlemartin Corse today. Despite looking from various locations we didn't see the Crane, so from Clive's posting below looks like we should have started earlier!
Otherwise though the number of birds on the Corse is building up now that there is a plenty of water down there.
Wigeon 220, Teal 140, Mallard 120, Shoveller 20, Coot 2, Moorhen 3, Lapwing 110, Curlew 91, Back Tailed Godwit 4, Snipe 50+ (flying around over the reedbed). Female Marsh Harrier, male and female Kestrel, 1 Merlin, 2 Sparrowhawks, 3 Buzzards (including a very pale individual). 19 Chough, 1 Cettis Warbler and 2 Foxes also on the Corse.
We had a quick look for the Squacco at Angle but didn't see it (not our day for rarities!). However we bumped into a farmer a couple of miles south of Angle who said he had seen an unusual bird near his farm earlier today. He had a photo on his mobile --- the Squacco! So it seems that this bird is moving about more.
