The late date for this species made me think twice about the identification, but there was nothing odd either in the plumage or call. The bird was very mobile, but luckily came and landed for a minute to feed out in the open only 20m away.
Other migrants/winter visitors on Skokholm this am during a quick visit to measure windows etc in advance of next spring's work party, were:
Whimbrel (2), jack snipe (2), snipe (c 30), teal (28), mallard (12), starling (120), song thrush (40+), blackbird (20+), blue tit (3), great tit, kestrel, lapland bunting, reed bunting (6), goldfinch (2) and redwing (2). Also loads of robins chasing each other about.
