Info Post

A nice day out with Wendy J & Paul G, started at Amroth/Wiseman's Bridge with just a handful of scoter, a couple of distant divers and 4 Great-crested Grebes. A nice Purple Sandpiper (photo) under the lifeboat station at Tenby, but no sign of the Black Redstart at Tenby South Beach. On to Bosherston, where we also have 3 Bitterns (photo) in the lowest reedbed, showing quite well though difficult to photograph through the reeds. Around 40 Tufted Duck, a Pochard, 6 Goldeneye & 4 Goosander also here. At Freshwater West a Chough and c.20 Grey Plover, and on Castlemartin Corse a Little Egret and plenty of wildfowl. Down to Marloes Mere which was pretty quiet, so we called in to Kete where the 2 Bewick's & 4 Whooper Swans were still present, and in Dale Roads the Red-necked Grebe, a Great Northern Diver, 4 Red-throated Divers, 11 Brent Geese (including the dark-bellied bird, all of which then flew towards Angle Bay), and in the relatively poor gull roost at least 5 Mediterranean Gulls (adults, although one showed a single black primary mark perhaps indicating a 3rd winter bird). Also photo below of some starlings coming into roost at Plumstone last night.
