It has really been very hard to find any Stonechats round here in the last month or so: the cold weather seemed to hit them particularly hard.
Today was therefore wonderful: at least 4 males singing persistently in the valley: below Lockley Lodge, by the Deer Park gates, and further up the valley. There were also at least as many females, apparently prospecting for nest sites, and a couple chasing each other around. There seems to have been a "fall" overnight/early this morning, and it's another lovely indicator of Spring
