Wonderful to see the Buff-breasted Sandpipers: lovely birds, and fascinating to see them feeding actively on the runway in the company of a Dunlin and 5 Ringed Plover. Many thanks to Mervyn for re-finding them despite the heavy rain!
Once the rain lifted there were large numbers of Meadow Pipits, Skylarks and Wheatears, mostly at the "far"(i.e. Marloes Sands) end. Amonsgt them was a really well coloured Lapland Bunting.
Prior to seeing the Sandpipers we had taken a look in the field at Kete that had the Doterel last week. Even on Thursday the crop was only just coming through, and the field had 20 Ringed Plover and 5 Dunlin. Yesterday morning the crop was up a lot, and there were no waders at all, although this could also have been because it was Low Tide.
