Sea Trust cetacean survey 2/9/11
Info Post
Sadly no Fin Whales, but plenty of Dolphins. Birdy stuff included thousands of Manxies, a few terns including Arctic and Common along with two dark Arctic Skuas chasing them. As we approached Grassholm two beautiful Pom' Skuas lifted off the water passing by and displaying their spoons. There are still plenty of Gannets on Grassholm with some juveniles still with extensive downy patches, others in their dark plumage wing flapping. No doubt the windy week ahead will lift them off the island and dump them on the sea for their next stage of weight loss and development, before acheiving mastery of the ocean and its skies.
