Ring Billed Gull showing well all day and one 1st W Med Gull briefly.
I note from Ceredigion Birds blog that I have been berated by John Valentine for throwing bread into the river for the gulls. For info, and in my defence I was on site for a good 6 hours and in that time the gulls present were either loafing and preening or feeding on bread etc that was thrown to them by passers by (almost all of which were none birders).
Throwing bread to gulls on a river in the middle of town is not careless or poor fieldcraft - it is a common every day event. Those who know me know that I would rather wait patiently for birds to show well rather than causing disruption of any kind. I always put the welfare of birds first. And in this case the gulls got a fair proportion of my lunch!
