Info Post
Quite a lot of vis mig, with 650 Starlings, 230 Chaffinches, 180 Skylarks, 35 Greenfinches, 4 Reed Buntings, 3 Bramblings, 12 Long-tailed Tits, 5 Blue Tits, 110 Jackdaws, 45 Carrion Crows all South-west. Woodcock, Blackcap and Wheatear present. Away from the mundane, Svensson (1992) suggests Dave Astins is right in picking out the dark sub-terminal barring to the great coverts as being the most useful ageing feature and this is clear in the pics. The barring below seems more problematical than might be supposed; judging by the 2010 ad fem in Shetland. Age related bill colour may also be wrongly described in some books, but perhaps this is not surprising given the complexity of the group.
