A small party of Long Tailed Tits wandered through the garden as I set off for strumble this morning. The hedgerows between here and Strumble seem to be buzzing with new bird life including Goldfinches and Bullfinches. An injured Raven eluded my rescue attempt by scrambling over a gorse covered hedge bank, there was a day I would have gone after it, but gorse covered hedgebanks are not really mature walrus habitat.
Horrible lack of Porpoises at Strumble, but an interesting flock of around 60 non breeding Kittiwakes, mainly 1st summer birds loafing and dip feeding. Only Gannets seen were passing by with odd auks and manxies. An evening boat trip with Richard Nichols off Strumble was very quiet with only a trickle of manxies passing Strumble, nice to get a birds eye view of the tide race though!
