Info Post
I put off doing the Webs count at Castlemartin Corse yesterday hoping for a brighter day but it turned out just as dull today. However, Morris North and I had an excellent count with really large numbers of birds on a very wet and flooded Corse. Highlight was 9 Ruff, normally a passage migrant in Pembrokeshire so 9 in the winter was a real treat. One bird was well marked with a white face and collar.
Raptors were scarcer than usual with just 2 Buzzards and one Merlin. Other bird numbers were - Lapwing 3,800, Golden Plover 550, Black Tailed Godwit 17, Curlew 120, Snipe 39, Ringed Plover 5 (a first for me on the Corse), Little Egret 1, Wigeon 600, Teal 156, Mallard 47, Gadwall 8, Pintail 5, Shoveller 20, Greylag Goose 6.
A quick look at Kilpaison early afternoon - 120 Dunlin, 16 Brents
