Info Post
Terry Leadbetter telephoned about a waxwing someone in Milford Haven had brought to him at the seal centre. It had been feeding on apples on the ground in a garden two days ago but, unfortunately, was then killed by a cat. Terry doesn't know who the garden owner is yet but it is pleasing that he retrieved the corpse which was collected from his freezer today. Here is an image showing the beautiful distinctive waxy ends to the secondary feathers. The bird was very thin and probably starving. Apparently there were no berries on trees/shrubs in the vicinity. Presumably apples on the ground in this particular garden were the only (last resort?) option.

Yesterday a fine ring-tailed hen harrier was also noted hunting over Castlemartin Range.
Also, thanks Sash for adding all those records to the Atlas (via BirdTrack) from recent visits to Skomer and Skokholm - great stuff!
